In this article an interesting foreign reference from Volteco. To waterproof the basement of a luxury hotel in Ankara, the choice fell on <strong>Amphibia<\/strong>, <strong>Volteco&#8217;s<\/strong> hydro-reactive membrane.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;38241&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;right&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;4&#8243; content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The project for the construction of the new <strong>MEB Hotel Concept<\/strong> located in the university part of Ankara, in a rather central area, was challenging from many points of view, especially considering that the final goal was a <strong>multi-storey basement <\/strong>for a parking area.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, excavation interventions in partially built-up or particularly congested areas, such as this one, require the design of works that allow the construction of the excavation without creating damage to the adjacent areas where other buildings are present. The <strong>Bottom Up excavation<\/strong>, in these circumstances, is the most suitable and was the one chosen as it involved the construction of a &#8220;provisional box&#8221; within which the final structure was then built. It is a sort of support on all sides necessary both to contain the surrounding soil and to prevent the entry of groundwater.<\/p>\n<p>The presence of the aquifer at about -6 meters below ground level was decisive in the choice of <strong>Amphibia<\/strong> as a <strong>waterproofing membrane<\/strong>. A necessary choice linked, first of all, to the <strong>performances of Volteco technology in the presence of water<\/strong> but also to the <strong>ease of installation against diaphragms walls<\/strong> that distinguishes Amphibia membrane, considering that the final project provided that the basements were 3 floors.
