Amphibia gas radon protective membrane was chosen for a prestigious bank development project.

Cassa Rurale Adamello Giudicarie Valsabbia Paganella, in Madonna di Campiglio (Trento), has undergone a major demolition, reconstruction and expansion project. Volteco solutions were used for waterproofing and protecting Radon gas.

The new building, built to replace the pre-existing reinforced concrete structure dating back to the 1970s, is characterized by a contemporary style that features typical local materials such as wood and granite.

The creation of the new building, connected to the existing one via an underground concrete tunnel with an exit onto the street, was necessary to ensure dry, healthy environments protected from the danger of Radon gas.

The existing buildings now have two underground floors: one dedicated to the garage area and the other two office spaces.

The first major difficulty in the operations was represented by the bottom of the excavation of the two open-air floors, which had an aquifer and significant water inflows from two of the four walls, thus posing a problem in terms of maintaining the level of the aquifer and containing water inflows.

Added to this was the problem of the continuous rain, which fed the aquifer and constantly wet the walls, preventing the work from being carried out in dry conditions.

A further inconvenience was also caused by the presence of two elevator tanks, various changes of heights for housing plinths and a shaft with multiple bodies passing through the slab.

For the large-scale waterproofing intervention to be effective, it was preferred to create continuous waterproofing for all the underground structures.

To give load-bearing capacity to the ground and support the buildings and the adjacent square, concrete pilings were planned that covered the entire perimeter of the excavation.

The waterproofing of the foundation slab, elevator shafts and vertical walls was instead guaranteed using Amphibia 3000 Grip: a multilayer hydroreactive system that can be drilled, shaped and moved with great ease.

The system was completed with the WT Construction hydroexpansive profile, and the Akti-Vo 201 hydro-expanding mastic to protect each construction detail.

The WT Panel hydro-expansive epdm rubber panel was used to connect the new structure to the tunnel where main settlements between the two structures could affect the continuity of waterproofing.

The tunnel was waterproofed with the flexible liquid Plastivo 180 with CCT technology: a solution applicable with a roller that ensures rapid curing even in humid environments, allowing the spaces to be put into service in a short time.

Thanks to the Amphibia system and its flexibility, it was possible to satisfy the needs of the construction site, allowing the company to work in a linear and fast way even in the presence of groundwater and persistent rain.
