The project for the construction of the new VERDE Business Center located in a rather central area was challenging from many points of view, especially considering that the final goal included a multi-storey basement intended for a parking area.
The choice falls on Amphibia 3000 Grip thanks to its high waterproofing capabilities and its ease of use.
First of all, excavation interventions in partially built-up or particularly congested areas, such as this one, require the design of works that allow the excavation to be carried out without creating prejudice to adjacent areas where there are other buildings. The excavation was carried out in different blocks using provisional metal works (metal sheets) and formwork taking into account the strongly sandy soil considering the proximity of the area to the coast.
The presence of the aquifer at about -3 meters below the ground level (with a pumping system always active during all operations) was decisive in the choice of Amphibia as a waterproofing membrane. A necessary choice linked, first of all, to the performance of Volteco technology in the presence of salty water but also to the ease of installation that distinguishes the Amphibia membrane, considering that the final project envisaged that the basements were 2 floors below ground level. Not to be forgotten, then, is the difficulty of laying operations in winter on such a complex construction site and Amphibia technology, thanks to its reduced sensitivity to environmental variables around it, has really made a difference.
Once the numerous pile heads had been regularized and sealed, the slab and walls were waterproofed, providing for the installation of Amphibia horizontally on the cleaning slab and vertically on the walls with mixed technique, obviously taking advantage of the self-sealing capacity of the sheets.
High elasticity on cracks, good workability at low temperatures, speed of installation thanks to nailing and the fact that it is not subject to problems in case of rain have been sure winning factors for the application.
