The intervention focuses on the construction of a new structure connected to the pre-existing one through the creation of an underground concrete tunnel that opens onto the street. This operation became necessary in order to make the spaces dry, healthy and, above all, protected from the dangerous Radon gas. The existing buildings give way to two underground floors, one dedicated to a garage area and the other to office spaces.

Since the two-storey open excavation floor presented a water table and significant water ingress from two of the four walls, the first major difficulty encountered on site was keeping the water table level low and limiting water entry from the rock through a series of overhead pipes. Added to this was the challenge of carrying out work in dry conditions due to continuous rainfall, which was feeding the water table and wetting the walls. Furthermore, the presence of two lift pits, several recesses for footing housings, and a service shaft with multiple penetrating elements through the slab created considerable complications. In short, there were multiple difficulties to address.
