Volteco focuses on Amphibia technology in North America

Amphibia, water-reactive membrane has been chosen for the major waterproofing project at the Fort Lauderdale convention center in Florida thanks to its high waterproofing properties and ease of use.

The project, an investment of approximately $1.3 billion, was designed and built to expand and transform the existing Fort Lauderdale Convention Center into a major cruise ship dock within a complex boasting a wide range of amenities and services. A waterfront ballroom, a large outdoor plaza, restaurants, and a concert hall will frame the new, centrally located hotel featuring 801 rooms with cutting-edge technology and services.

Since the entire area is largely surrounded by sea, every excavation carried out revealed a significant presence of water. Therefore, the choice to use Amphibia as a waterproofing membrane was crucial, certainly due to its undeniable performance in the constant presence of salty water and its ease of installation, but also considering the significant critical issues encountered during the various phases of the project.

Amphibia ‘s speed of application and the limited number of accessories required for its application allowed installers to reduce lead installation times and significantly speed up all subsequent operations, thus completing the project faster despite the laborious geometries to be created and the multiple phases of the project. Specifically, the numerous and complex compartments complicated the waterproofing phases, which required varying timescales given the huge dimensions of the area and the pile heads sealing process, where Amphibia allowed for optimized execution times.

Furthermore, Amphibia made the numerous stages of waterproofing the membrane feasible despite the extreme variability of weather conditions well known in Florida.

Amphibia 3000 Grip is an innovative EPDM waterproof membrane designed to ensure maximum protection of underground structures against water infiltration, including saltwater. Featuring innovative multilayer technology, it offers self-healing, self-sealing, and complete adhesion to concrete, preventing lateral water migration.

Ideal for waterproofing buildings, public works, tanks, and tunnels, it stands out for its mechanical resistance, flexibility, and cold application, simplifying installation and ensuring durability even in aggressive environments.

Fort Lauderdale Convention Center is only one of the Amphibia ‘s many prestigious installations in Florida. Ambitious projects such as Miami’s most prestigious skyscrapers and numerous residential and commercial buildings have already been completed.

Launched on the US market between 2018 and 2019, it immediately revolutionized the concept of waterproofing, obtaining important feedback and winning the favor of industry professionals, applicators and companies.

Amphibia technology carve out a significant market share in Florida and continues to confirm its success as a leading technology worldwide. In the United States, Amphibia applications are rapidly expanding, not only in Georgia, but also in South Carolina, Alabama, and Texas, as well as across North America and in states such as New York, Massachusetts, and Oklahoma. In Canada, too, numerous applications are being successfully implemented daily in the Toronto and Vancouver areas.
